Sri Baduga Museum located in Jalan B. K. R. 185 Tegallega Bandung City and was built on the land area of 8415,5 m2. This Museum has collected many of the objects associated with the history of the West Java. Like hand crafted Sunda, tooling, geological history and natural differences. The museum's collection includes aspects of the biological, ethnographic, numismatic, historical, archaeological, heraldic, ceramics, technology and art.
Sri Baduga Museum was established in the year 1974 in the building that used to be the district office. Name Kawedanan Tegallega, who is a former division of administrative in Bandung. In 1980, officially the museum is known with the name of the State Museum of the Province of West Java. Precisely inaugurated on June 5, 1980 by the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. David Joseph.
That time Indonesia was still led by Suharto. In 1990, the museum was later named back with the name of the State Museum of the West Java Province of Sri Baduga. According to written in the Batutulis Inscription. Then the Ministry of Education and Culture set by the number 02223/0/1990 on April 4, 1990.
Name History Museum Sri Baduga taken from the name of a king of Sunda named Sri Baduga. Other names namely The Queen Jayadewata. He is the great king of the kingdom of Sunda, which is based on Hindu religion in West Java. Ruling from 1482 to 1521 in his capital called Pakuan Pajajaran. He brings grandeur and prosperity to his kingdom. Because of the greatness of the king that's the name of Sri Baduga immortalized as the name of the museum.
