Tarawangsa

Tarawangsa is one of the arts of the sundanese people who came from the Village Rancakalong, Sumedang, West Java.

Tarawangsa is also called ngek-ngek including the music of friction a kind of fiddle. Has two strings (ropes rays) serves as sweeteners, softeners, to the tones of the principal and tools penggesek. Also have a tool friction which is made from bamboo and there is a rope from the tail of the horse to rub to a string and make a sound.

Tarawangsa, as the main instrument lagu-lagu sunda and the art of poetry as the accompanying dance. In the ritual ceremonies of reverence to Nyai Sri Pohaci or the Goddess Sri or Goddess of Rice, this ritual is carried out on the basis of gratitude for the harvest.

Its presence has been known since the 15th century in texts Swaka Darma (kropak 408) studied by Saleh Danasasmita.
