MUSEUM SOEGARDA

Museum of Prof. Dr. R. Soegarda Poerbakawatja is a public museum owned by the Government of Kabupaten Purbalingga, which was inaugurated on 24 april 2003 by the Governor of Central Java, Mardiyanto. Museum of Prof. Dr. R. Soegarda Poerbakawatja stand up prakasa Bupati Purbalingga, Triyono Budi Sasongko to save the collection-historic collection belonging to the Purbalingga Regency. Starting from the collection of the spear heirloom Purbalingga obtained from Kasunanan Surakarta and historical objects collected through the Civil service Culture Department of Education, collect the collection to reflect the cultural life of the community Purbalingga.

With the theme “Griya, Heirloom, Women, Turangga, Kukila” as a red thread collection of about 1500 collection exhibited to the public. The collection illustrates the culture Purbalingga from time to time. Starting from the neolithic era evidenced by the collection of findings from the site of the workshop of the manufacture of stone bracelet in Purbalingga, a collection of the colonial period up to the collection's hero the education of origin Purbalingga Prof. Dr. R. Soegarda Poerbakawatja.

Prof. Dr. R. Soegarda Poerbakawatja known as the originator of the higher education in Indonesia. He lived during the period of Ki Hajar Dewantara and became secretary of the Father of Education in 1949 when the Congress of Education Between the republic of Indonesia. Prof. Soegarda also often represent Indonesia as an ambassador of culture and education in the moment-the moment international. Prof. Dr. R. Soegarda recorded co-founded the University of Gajah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta, Perguruan tinggi Pendidikan Guru (PTPG), Universitas Syah Kuala, Banda Aceh to the University of Cendrawasih, from Papua.
